Y5 10.6.22 Weekly Update

Friday 10th June 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

I hope you all had a lovely half-term. It is hard to believe we are in our final seven weeks of the school year. There is lots to fit in in terms of curriculum work, and we also have events to enjoy such as June Evening, Sports Day, and our trip to the Bridgewater Hall.

This week we have continued our work on life cycles in science. In English, we have been exploring the features of newspaper reports. In maths, we have been looking at triangles and quadrilaterals.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • It was really nice to see each other after our week away.
  • We liked doing athletics in PE.
  • It was interesting looking at the reasons why rivers flood.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they learned about the life cycle of an amphibian.
  • Ask the children if they can remember the features of a newspaper article.

Looking forward:

Next week the children will be completing our life cycles science topic, and our rivers topic in geography. We then have an interesting new history topic to work on. In English, the children will be writing their own newspaper report. In maths, we will continue to look at shape.

We have class photos on Thursday!

Enjoy the weekend!
