Y5 15.10.21 Weekly Update

Friday 15th October 2021 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

This week we have been putting the finishing touches to some display work for the exhibition next week (please see details below). The children have produced some lovely work about South America, and hopefully learned a bit along the way too!

On Wednesday, we had the wonderful dance teacher, Laura Wilson, working with the class on some South American themed dancing. It was such a good session and the children learned their dance so quickly and were performing it within 45 minutes!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are really enjoying PE on Tuesdays.
  • We loved the dance session with Laura Wilson!

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children to show you column subtraction method.
  • Ask the children to tell you what Hindu’s believe about karma and reincarnation.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be finishing off the last bits of exhibition work. We will also be doing some important PSHE work all about Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King.

Please see details below for visiting the exhibition this year:

You are warmly invited to visit our display of the children’s work in the school hall (junior side).  Under our Covid risk assessment we are inviting just one adult from each family and requesting masks are worn indoors.  You are welcome to collect your child to look at the exhibition with you—please come to the reception desk, on the junior side where someone will admit you and collect your child for you.

Every class has one day over the next few weeks to visit – our class is on  Thursday 21st October, 9-10am and 1-5pm (please note, children are in a special assembly with Key Strings on Thursday afternoon 2.20-3.20pm). All families are welcome to visit on Friday 22nd between 9 and 12.

This is a display of work studied by all year groups but because of current restrictions the format is different to past exhibitions.  We have all worked very hard on this display and it showcases our children and their talents beautifully.  We are so pleased to be able to put an exhibition on again and we are very proud of all the work the children have produced.  We hope you will be able to come and join us for this event. The children have also worked with an artist to prepare a large art piece and a dance specialist on their main theme. Our main area of study has been South America.
