Y5 1.7.22 Weekly Update

Friday 1st July 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

Year 5s have worked really hard this week. They have continued to enjoy Anthony Browne’s King Kong, and they produced some great writing based on this book. In maths we have been practising translating shapes on a grid. In geography, we looked at maps of Goostrey during different time periods and comparing the differences. On Friday afternoon, we look at models for how the children can regulate their emotions when they need to.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We found the science work looking at a baby’s developmental stages really interesting.
  • We enjoying looking at the maps of Goostrey and seeing how different the village was in the past.
  • We are really enjoying the Scratch programming with Mr Cowell on Wednesday afternoons.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children if they can remember any changes babies go through.
  • Can the children tell you how to translate a shape on a grid.

Looking forward:

In English, we will continue to explore ‘King Kong’, and the children will plan and write their own story with a dilemma.

In maths, the children will complete our position and direction work by doing some work on reflection.

We are doing some really interesting PSHE work too, learning more about the Windrush generation.

We are also looking forward to Sports Day on Tuesday afternoon!

DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR US IN THE SHED OF THE YEAR COMPETITION

Enjoy the weekend!
