Y5 18.2.22 Weekly Update

Friday 18th February 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

What a fantastic half-term this has been. The children have worked so hard, and have produced some fantastic work. There has been a lovely (and productive) atmosphere in class. This week the children have produced a fantastic diary entry, imagining they were an Ancient Greek child. They have also produced some fantastic work on an Ancient Greek God/Goddess, and the Ancient Olympics.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed learning all about the origins of the Olympics and presenting our research.
  • We feel much more confident using fractions in maths.
  • We are have really enjoyed playing basketball in PE.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they learned about the Ancient Greek God they researched.
  • Ask the children how and when the Olympics began.

Looking forward:

After half-term, we will finish off our Ancient Greek topic in the first week, before moving on to some geography work based on Burwardsley, in preparation for our exciting residential visit. In maths, we will have another week of fractions work before moving on to decimals. In English, we will begin a fantastic unit writing based on a graphic novel version of a famous Sherlock Holmes story.

Have a great half-term break!
