Y5 20.5.22 Weekly Update

Friday 20th May 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

The Year 5s have worked really hard this week! We did some great PSHE work at the start of the week learning about the Windrush Generation. We also read the book ‘And Tango makes Three’ and discussed how all kinds of love can make a family. In English, the children produced some wonderful writing based on the book, 'The Promise'. In maths we have been learning all about angles and using a protractor to measure angles. All children have had at least one swim in the pool.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed our swimming session in the pool!
  • We enjoyed writing a character narrative story.
  • We found it interesting learning about the Windrush Generation.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children if they can show you how to use a protractor (if you have one lying around somewhere!).
  • Ask if they can tell you the different parts of the inside of an egg. Can they also remember some of of egg puns!?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be doing a piece of writing based on the journey of a river. In maths, we will be continuing with angles and shape work. In science, we will be studying the life cycle of a butterfly. Our geography work will explore the impact of flooding.

All children will need their swimming kits in school again on Friday.

Don't forget audience tickets are available for the Bridgewater Hall concert from Thursday.
