Y5 26.11.21 Weekly Update

Friday 26th November 2021 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

There’s lots of things to remember at the moment – please see a list below!

A great week from Year 5. We explored multiples and factors in maths – the children seemed to develop a good grasp of this. In English, the children wrote a wonderful story based on the moon landings. Our history work was researching the Blitz.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are enjoying Wider Opps and working towards our class performance.
  • We really liked writing our own story and publishing them in neat.
  • We are really enjoying using the gymnastics equipment in PE.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children if they can tell you the difference between a multiple and a factor.
  • Can the children tell you why we might use a dash in our written work?
  • Can the children tell you about Copinicus and Galileo?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be starting a new writing genre – formal reports. In maths, we will be exploring strategies to multiply numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. In history, we will be looking at official documentation from WWII about evacuation.

There seemed to be a printing error with the back page of the homework this week (the extension task). Sorry about that – I’ve given the children the option of bringing home a different task over the weekend.

Things to remember:

Raffle tickets are £1 per strip to win the class hamper! We are selling tickets in class each day.

It’s the Year 6 Cup-u-Like stall on Wednesday after school (1st).

The class photo is on Wednesday (1st).

Wider Opps ‘Progress Performance’ is on Wednesday 15th December at 1.30pm.

We will be doing our ‘Elf Run’ for St Luke’s Hospice on Friday (3rd)
