Y5 7.10.22 Weekly Update

Friday 7th October 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

We have started our exhibition work this week and the children have been so focused on producing some lovely work which has been great to see. On Monday, the children completed their stories based on the Moon landings – these were absolutely fantastic and you could have heard a pin drop as the children finished them off.

In maths we have been successfully looking at strategies for addition and subtraction which has gone really well.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed exploring Hindu proverbs and the messages they teach us.
  • We found learning about Mahatma Gandi really interesting.
  • We loved having a go at calligraphy.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what facts they learned about Mahatma Gandi’s life.
  • Can the children remember any of the proverbs we looked at?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be moving on to exploring the features of a formal report, which will eventually build up to the children writing their own report. In maths we are looking at inverse operations, and multi-step problem solving.

Our afternoons will continue to be used to produce some more wonderful work for the exhibition.
