Friday 7th January 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children returned to school with such a great attitude, and were raring to go for 2022. This week they have produced some lovely artwork based on Henry Moore’s WWII art. They also wrote a fantastic rhyming poem to go with this work. We also completed our science topic on space by researching the wonderful scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really liked being back at school and seeing our classmates.
- We enjoyed writing the poem and the artwork based on Henry Moore.
- We enjoyed playing basketball in PE.

- Can the children tell you all about Henry Moore’s WWII artwork?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be studying area in maths. In English, we will begin a new writing topic based on the wonderful book ‘FArTHER’ by Grahame Baker-Smith. In history, we will start a new topic all the ancient Greeks. Our new science topic will be ‘Materials’.
