Y5 8.7.22 Weekly Update
Friday 8th July 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
Year 5s have worked really hard this week. We did some lovely work at the beginning of the week about the Windrush Generation. The children wrote an imagined diary entry as if they were on the Empire Windrush ship, heading for the UK. In science, we have looked at gestation periods for different mammals, and the children produced a scatter graph. We also looked at census and village directory information for Goostrey in the past.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed Sports Day!
- We have enjoyed the maths topic on position and direction.
- We have really enjoyed reading Anthony Browne’s King Kong.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask children what we learned about Goostrey from the census.
- Ask the children if they can tell you the strategy for working out reflection in maths.
Looking forward:
Next week, we have Bikeabilty on Thursday and Friday. Children will need to wheel their bike onto the school playground each morning, and put them on the astroturf area. They should wear their normal Goostrey top, and some trousers/shorts/footwear suitable for riding. They may need suncream!
