Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 19 March

Friday 12th March 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

Thank you for a fantastic week at school Year 2. The children have settled back in so well and we have had a really happy week. I am sure they will be quite tired now.

We have spent some time looking through the home learning, sharing work we are proud of with the class. Thank you for supporting your children during the past eight weeks, it has really helped them.

This week we have reviewed our history, RE and science topics by creating knowledge posters. In English we have created sentences and revised our word classes plus spent time working on reading skills. In maths we have chosen the correct methods to add/subtract or multiply/divide. We have also been active in gymnastics and aerobics. We have also worked on friendship skills and problem solving together.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Making my Great Fire of London poster
  • Maths
  • Sentences in English
  • PE
  • Having lunch with my friends
  • Seeing my friends out in the playground
  • Being with all the teachers again

Family discussion questions:

  • Who is Donna Kinnair?
  • Why is Sunday special? Look in the reading folder, mums!

Looking forward:

  1. Reading books are changed on Mondays – but please ensure your child has their pack with them every day
  2. A new story in English
  3. Science
  4. Problem solving maths
  5. Gymnastics
  6. Lots more…

Homework in Year 2

Please read with your child every day. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).

Maths: play my board game at home. You can keep it.

English: sentences work due Friday 19th March

Spellings: suffixes to be quizzed on Friday 19th March.
