Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 5th November

Friday 5th November 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

We’ve had a great first week back in school. I’ve been impressed with how they have settled back into the classroom. In English we have begun a new story – The River. All the children are really enjoying exploring the new text. In Maths we are working on subtraction skills. We have begun new topics in History and Science plus enjoyed PE and reading time.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • The River
  • Maths
  • Seeing my friends
  • Music
  • Learning the names of the seas that surround the UK

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask your child about the paper experiment. How should you treat your friends?

Looking forward:

  • Reading books will be changed on Monday. Please ensure your child has their pack with them every day.
  • Fluenz on Monday
  • Subtraction numberlines
  • Planning a story
  • Houses through History
  • Sorting different materials

Homework in Year 2

Please ensure all homework is completed and do let me know if you have any concerns

Maths: complete the subtraction questions – do as many a possible in about 15 minutes then stop.

English: reading comprehension

Spellings: sheet sent home for the quiz on Friday.

Please read with your child every day. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).
