Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 8th July

Friday 8th July 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

Well done Year 2, it has been another brilliant week. Sports Day was a huge success. Well done to all the children and thank you families for supporting us. We have been busy finishing our science topic and publishing Rosie Revere stories. In geography, the children continued to compare South Africa and the UK. In maths we looked at symmetry and geometry while retaining the skills learned through the year.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Using butterfly painting to help us understand symmetry
  • Sports Day was fun!
  • Science work
  • Playtimes on the field
  • I-pads
  • Designing a castle

Family discussion/questions:

How many features of castles can you name?

Looking forward:

  • Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
  • PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
  • Transition activities all week
  • Castles
  • Art
  • Geography
  • The weather looks very warm so please ensure children have sun cream applied before school and have a water bottle with them. We want to enjoy this weather as we never know how long summer lasts!

Homework in Year 2

Please ensure all homework is completed and do let me know if you have any concerns

Homework will be slightly different for the rest of the term. Please continue to read regularly and ask your child questions about their book. There are ideas in the file section of our class page.

Spellings will be from all the rules learned over the year so nothing specific will be sent home.
