Year 4 Looking Back and Forth Friday 16th September

Friday 16th July– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, we started our new work on biographies.  The children learnt about the inspirational Louis Braille.  In maths, we focused on place value.  In the afternoons, the children continued to learn about the types of mountains around the world, and the features of a mountain.

Questions to ask at home

  • What is a treeline?
  • What is a snow line?
  • What is a ridge?
  • What did Louis Braille invent?
  • What happened to him as a kid?
  • What did he set out to prove?

Highlights of the week for the children

  • Geography – learning the parts of a mountain
  • In science, learning about states of matter
  • Completing my star reading quiz to get my new ZPD
  • Music with Mrs Beardsworth
  • Maths – counting in 1,000s

Looking forward:

This week, the children will continue to learn about the features of a biography and then begin to learn about George Mallory.  In maths,  we will continue to work on place value.  In the afternoons, the children will be learning about the perils on the mountains, as well as learning about the Himalayas and Everest.
