Year 4 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 22nd September 2023

Friday 22nd September– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, we started to look at information reports about animals, Arctic foxes in particular.  We started to look at the features of this type of text inpreparation for writing our own reports about bees for the Exhibition.  We also had a fantastic time with the willow artist creating sculptures for the Exhbition.     In maths, we continued to work on place value and worked on the timestables x2, x4, x8, and x9.

In science, the class worked on the field conducting field work on the animals and plants that can be discovered there.

Also, apologies as I did not give the reading records out at the end of the day on Friday.  I will ensure your child gets it back on Monday.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What did you find on the field?
  • What can you tell me about Arctic foxes?
  • What does the word 'omnivore' mean?
  • What is the Latin/Scientific name for an Arctic fox?
  • What happened in the story the 'White Fox' (Chapter One) so far...?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • Working with the willow artist
  • Working on place value in maths
  • Visiting the field looking for different plants and animals
  • using a dictionary looking for definitions
  • My Happy Mind
  • P.E. with Mr Donald

Looking forward:

This next week, the children have a great week planned with bug surveys, contouring in geography, branching databases and learning lots about bees!
