Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 13th March 2020

Y6 - Friday 13th March 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Please could ALL pupils have their homework diaries in school on Monday 16th March – Thank You

Looking back:

What a great week we’ve enjoyed in Year 6.  We have been looking at a variety of subjects including: diary writing from a character’s point of view; learning formulae for finding the areas of 2D shapes; writing about the Iron Age; relay racing for PE; finding in-depth information about the Five Pillars of Islam; and doing Zumba with the school on Friday.  There’s never a dull moment!

We also listened very carefully to Mrs. James from Cheshire Fire and Rescue.  She gave a detailed talk about road safety – something to chat about at home.

It was also lovely to meet with all of our families and to chat about our pupils.  These meetings were attended by all families and we were able to explain the process of revision and assessment for the coming weeks.  Thank you.

Hat Making:  We are continuing Mrs. Benson’s lessons and – as in previous years – the Year 6 will be designing and making their own hats.  However, it is sad to confirm that we will not be able to collaborate with the Hat Works Museum in Stockport this academic year.  We have taken pupils to the museum for so many years and this has proved very successful.  Last year, we changed this and they came to work with us at school via an outreach programme.  This worked extremely well and it was our intention to do this once more.  However, the Hat Works is closed completely for a full refurbishment.  They are not having school visits, or the outreach work, whist this is going on.  There are no educational activities until they are re-opened in April 2021.  However, we shall endeavour to inspire the pupils and we have asked them to being looking at ideas for their own hats in preparation for this week’s lesson on Thursday 19th March.  They should be collecting pictures and ideas where possible to bring to the lesson.  They will then use their thoughts to begin designing their own ideas.

Letters issued Y6:
