Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 24th November 2017

Year 6 Week-in-Review: Friday 2017

This week’s review is brought to you by HS & BA. The pupils have contributed thoughts for this week directly to our reporters who have taken great care in composing the following report. They have also created some family questions – but who can answer them all???

“This week, Year 6 have enjoyed designing – and playing – their own hockey mini-games which tested skill, pace, accuracy and dribbling. In maths, the class has been studying conversions and line graphs that challenged their knowledge of imperial and metric measures (not to mention their ability to draw straight lines!) Also in maths, the pupils found “Hit the Button” very enjoyable. English included learning and writing about the poem ‘The Highwayman’ by Alfred Noyes. They then reported the happenings of this poem in a newspaper, and then a narrative. As Christmas is drawing closer, the annual carol practices have been taking place and the juniors have liked learning their first few carols. PE this Friday (tag-rugby) was outside and involved lots of running around! Finally, most importantly there was BUDDIES!!!”

What a brilliant review from H & B – not only was it well-written, but it also captured a sense of fun and enjoyment amongst the pupils. A great first report.

Thank you to everyone for two super parents’ evenings this week. It was great to share with you some information about what goes on in our class each week and to chat about your children. They are a super class and we all enjoy teaching them.

Questions to ask your son/daughter this week include:

  • How many kilometres are in 5 miles?
  • What is a highwayman?
  • How many grams are in an ounce?
  • What game did you design and which was your favourite?
  • How do you pass the ball in rugby?
  • What three punctuation marks are used for parenthesis in writing?
  • What is parenthesis?
  • What football team does Mr. Timmins support (clue – it was on the pint mug in maths!)?
