Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 3rd March 2017

So, our first week back after half term, and again, there have been some different types of lessons going on around school this week.

With Mrs. Timmins, we've been looking at the history and development of graffiti and how this has evolved from scribbles and scratches on walls, to the amazing street art which is all around us (if we know where to look).  Year 6, don't forget your "tags" for Tuesday please - see the homework tab if you've forgotten! We've been strengthening our knowledge of percentages and fractions too during our maths lessons.

With Mrs. Cowell, we've been learning more about our bodies and healthy eating during science, and we've even been "filming" too.  Mr. Capewell from Holmes Chapel joined us on Monday for a rugby lesson and we practised our French with Madame Mottershead on Tuesday.

Thursday was a particularly exciting day as we celebrated "World Book Day 2017".  What a super array of inventive outfits and characters we enjoyed whilst sharing our enthusiasm for reading during our whole school celebration assembly.  In the afternoon, we used our carousel of activities to consider what it would be like to be a refugee and what this word means.  We've compiled books across the school of comments we'd share if anyone was to join us at Goostrey - you're welcome to view these in our school reception areas, once they're compiled.

Of course, we enjoyed our Buddy Time on Friday - it's been a couple of weeks since we've seen them.  They've certainly been storing up some energy!

Please do see below for important events for families next week.

Kind regards

The Year 6 Team

Conversations to have with your child:

Tell me about your graffiti study.

What do the phrases "tag", "wicked style" and "throw ups" mean?  It's now what you might be thinking!

What have you been filming this week?

Have you designed your "tag" yet and what styles have you used?

Impress me with your new knoweldge of active and passive verbs!
