Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 7th October 2016

Year 6 Week-in-Review Friday 7th October 2016

This week has seen us practising our “moves” for the Exhibition – all will be revealed soon.  We’ve been strengthening our subtraction skills in maths and we’ve learned about which acts performed in which decades for our English work.  We’ve also begun to really look at how we edit our own work so that we can become reflective and critical thinkers about the work we produce.

Mrs. Benson has led us through looking at time in RE and Mrs. Cowell has guided us though changing technology.

We’re really beginning to pull our Exhibition work together – it’s amazing to look at how things have changed over TIME.  We are really enjoying reading through the songs which families are sending in which remind you all of a TIME in your life.  We hope these are evoking fond memories in families.

We will be posting details on our “Events” link on our Year 6 class page shortly so that you can be aware of when you are invited into school and what you will be able to see (or maybe participate in).

Kingswood letters were also issued on Friday.  It might seem like it’s a long time away, but after ten years, we’re never surprised at how quickly this visit crops up.  The letter is available via the “Kingswood” button on the page – please do click to download if the letter didn’t make it home.  It contains details of costs and dates for your diaries.  Do contact us if you have any queries about this.

Please do keep checking our class webpage – it’s how we keep you informed of what’s going on in class.  If you wish to contact either Mrs. Timmins or Mrs. Cowell, please see the variety of ways you can get in touch.

Questions to ask your son/daughter this week include:

Which decade of music did you find out about and who was singing what songs at that time?

Is time important in RE?

What artefacts have changed since the 1980s to modern day?

What dance are you learning with Miss Oakes (Premier Sports)?

What dance is Mrs. Timmins teaching you?  Is she any good at it???? J

Kind regards

The Year 6 Team
