Y6 – Friday 11th March 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
A wonderful week in Year 6 – we’ve enjoyed reading Neil Gaiman’s “Hansel and Gretel” in full – a dark version of one of Grimm’s more famous fairy tales. We’re really looking forward to writing our own narratives based upon this tale. Metric measures have been a focus for our maths lessons with two new measures being introduced (see family questions). Local history was fascinating this week with “Lindow Man” introduced to Year 6 – an amazing example of history so close to us. Tuesday saw coding in ICT really stretch the pupils’ computer skills – they are really getting good at setting instructions.
Excellent to see that pupils are making use of their CGP homework books and are revising topics in a calm and measured way for our upcoming SATs. We are working on this in class, but in a very measured fashion. Thank you for supporting the pupils with this.

Looking forward:
- We are looking forward to writing a narrative extract based upon Hansel and Gretel and we are moving our measures work further in maths. We’ll continue with our historical studies around the local area, together with our other curriculum subjects.
- Parents’ Evenings will take place in our classroom – pupils are encouraged to attend these too
