Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 22nd September 2023

Y6 – Friday 22nd September 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

Our first full week in Year 6 has flown by with our pupils enjoying a great week.  We began by working with a visiting expert in willow weaving.  Year 6 worked with some of our Reception pupils to create some amazing structures – all will be revealed in due course.  We have completed some lovely descriptive writing about ourselves and in maths, we have consolidated our knowledge of place value.  We have been researching the great naturalist, Chalres Darwin; worked on ‘designer dogs’ and survival games; and begun some artwork based upon……………………hmmmm! We’ll give nothing away just yet.  On Thursday, we learned about religious beliefs within Hinduism and investigated different types of hats.  Today, we rounded off a great week with making buddy welcome cards, negative numbers in maths, football with our Sports Coaching Group and finally – the most exciting part of the week – we got to meet our buddies.

We look forward to seeing the pupils’ reading records on Thursdays – they earn multiple housepoints for having their diaries signed by an adult at home, and for recording their home reading in the correct weekly pages.

What a busy, but super, week.  Enjoy a great weekend and we’ll do it all again next week.
