Looking back:

Our Year 6 have been super busy this week, studying another great range of topics and completing some very detailed work.  We have enjoyed writing our “Discovery Narratives” this week, based on the journey of Charles Darwin.  The class have described his arrival in a new and fascinating country, and their descriptions of uncatalogued animals.  Maths has seen some amazing discussions as when the class are really challenged, they just get together and work it through.  Climates and biomes have been a focus for the geography work alongside the cultures of Central America.  Studying different religions has produced some lovely work and – of course – our practising for our Christmas Service has continued well.

We’d also like to say how lovely it was to be able to hold “in person” parents’ meetings once more and it was great to be able to meet with you and to celebrate how well your children have settled into Year 6.

Letters issued Y6:

Junior Carol Service letter issued on Friday 26th November – on super-bright yellow paper!

Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • IM Re with Mrs Riddell and writing on different religions
  • OK Geography with Mrs Cowell, drawing the “lines of the world” on the globe
  • MH Practising for the Carol Service

Family discussion questions:

  • What is a biome?
  • Tell me about the different religions you’ve been studying?
  • Why were the Mr Men a main focus of your science lessons this week?

Looking forward:

  • We are having individual photos taken on Wednesday morning – we’re sure the class will look extra-super smart. We’ll be moving on with our writing about Darwin to a slightly different focus and publishing our narratives soon. Our other subjects will continue apace with the class learning more about climates, elements of different religions, fractions and singing practice.
