Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth 12th March

Friday 12th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

The atmosphere in class this week, particularly on Monday was positive and ‘good to be back’.  It has been wonderful to look at the work that the class have completed at home, the children are so proud of it and rightly so.  We continue to dip into the work as we go along.  The children's Lockdown work has really supported the learning in class this week, as we have completed ‘double page spreads’ on different topics that were covered over Lockdown.  So far, we have completed our David Hockney and also a Goblinology ones.  We are still working on the Teeth and Eating double page, as there is a lot of content to fill.  For children who missed parts of the learning, the work this week has given them a chance to work through the content, albeit, at a much quicker pace.

Questions to ask at home:

What is a double page spread?

Where was David Hockney from?

What are the different teeth and what are their functions?

What does peristalsis mean?

Looking forward:

This week, we will continue our work on double page spreads.  We will complete our teeth and eating one and begin another on Europe.  We will continue to explore our new book on English.  We will have our spelling test on Wednesday and multiplication, timestables test on Friday afternoon.   Lacrosse will be our PE on Friday, if the weather is awful, we will be in the village hall again.  In maths, we will be revisiting the multiplication and division we were looking at through Lockdown and looking at different methods that can be used.

Homework in Year 4

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins

Soundcheck is a great tool to prepare the children for the MTC (Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check)

Spellings  – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday.  It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night.  The children remember them better learnt over the week.

Century – Tasks for maths and English have been set this week.  It is on the back of the English sheet.

Maths–For Friday – should have been handed in on Thursday – if not please ensure it is ready to be handed in the first Monday when we return.
