Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 19th January 2024

Friday 19th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, class have been perfecting their timestables in maths and exploring wordy problems.  In English, we have been looking at features of an effective scene setting.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What did Jake the dog do to Mr Gum’s garden?
  • What do you think makes a good scene setting?
  • What can you tell me about multiplying by 1 or 0
  • What are you doing in the My Happy Mind module – Appreciate?
  • What were the pushes and pulls for the Anglo-Saxons to come to Britain?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • My Happy Mind – Appreciate
  • Anglo-Saxons – the pushes and pulls
  • Learning my 13 timestable
  • TTRockstars
  • R.E. – Learning about Abraham
  • Working on the 1 and 0 timestable

Looking forward:

This next week, the children will continue to work on multiplication in maths, and scene settings in English.  In the afternoons the children will; have their micro-bit session, learn about Moses, explore an Anglo-Saxon village and learn about weather in French.

Homework in Year 4

Floss Recommendation – If you are stuck on any maths questions BBC Bitesize is really useful.  Here is the link - KS2 Maths - BBC Bitesize

Maths – orange sheet

English – GAPS mat and similes

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins

Spellings  – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday.  It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night.  The children remember them better learnt over the week.

Could the children please complete their homework in pencil or blue/black pen not felt tip.
