Yr4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 15th March

Friday 15th March – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, the children have explored the story of Eleanor Brownstone and the crystal skull.  We have looked at what makes a good Viking narrative in preparation for making our own.  In maths, we have been working on short division/Bus stop method.  The class have been dividing 2/3 or 4 digit numbers by 1.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What is personification?
  • What is a hyperbole?
  • What is alliteration?
  • Tell me something amazing about sound?
  • What did you do for Science week on the theme day?
  • How does the bus stop method in division work?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • My Happy Mind
  • Looking at Arthur’s town in our new book in English
  • P.E. – the class got 7 marbles for perfect behaviour and attitude (the best you can get is normally 5!)
  • Creating our Anglo-Saxon press prints
  • The science theme day
  • Creating our Delamere double page spreads

Looking forward:

This next week, the class will be immersed in all things Anglo-Saxon and Viking.  They will ; studying Sutton Hoo, printing runes, creating a brooch/torc that could be part of the hoard and planning a Viking mythical story.

Homework in Year 4

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
